Simnel Cakes

It’s super Simnel cake time! Traditionally Simnel cakes were made by servant girls who would take them home and give them to their mothers for a mothering Sunday gift. Now this cake has become associated with Easter.  This wonderful cake is packed with vine fruits and cherries, a deliciously flavoursome cake with gooey marzipan inside.  Conventionally a Simnel cake has two layers of Marzipan, one on the top and one in the center. Faithfull’s Quality Baking have done it slightly differently, all the Simnel cakes have chunks of Marzipan throughout the cake, as you eat the cake you come across  gooey pieces of marzipan that are complimented by the spicy, zesty flavours of the cake! Yum!
